The Hamilton brand is synonymous with accuracy and reproducibility because of their first product the microlitre syringe for injecting samples. Now they offer a full line of GC columns, inlets and septa plus HPLC columns for Anion, Cation and Ion exclusion chromatography, plus of course the most comprehensive range of gas and liquid tight syringes on the market today.

Specialist columns for affinity and immuno affinity such as the Venture series from Grace Vydac and Denali for small molecule separation are just some of the unusual materials available. Others like Everest excel in the field of protein and peptide separations are also available.

The sophistication of Vici Injection valves is continually increasing as the demands for more precise and yet variable injections increases. Loops in stainless steel, and PEEK with easy inter-changeability are available for the wide range of injection valves.

GL sciences manufacture the well known Inertsil HPLC phases which are rugged and durable, and operate at lower back pressures than other brands. Chiral technologies supply a range of specialist HPLC columns for analysis and separation of racemic compounds by enatiomeric chromatographic resolution.

GC capillary columns with a variety of stationary phases, film thicknesses, and internal diameters and in varying lengths to suit the huge number of analysis requirements is part of the everyday business of Teknokroma. SGT super-clean gas filters are important for ensuring that carrier gases used in the laboratory for GC and GC-MS meet the required purity at all times. SGT specialises in gas filters for removing moisture, oxygen and hydrocarbons from gases. Without these filters the standard of analysis would be compromised. The same is true for both LC-MS and ICP-MS. The cleanliness of the gas supply to these instruments is also critical.

Chromatography instruments (in particular LC’s) have internal parts which are subject to wear because of the high pressures involved. Items such as rotor seals, pistons, ball valves and flow cells are all items that are vulnerable. These need to be replaced at regular intervals before they fail. Optimize replacement parts are of the highest quality and are compatible with the majority of instruments on the market.

When injecting samples for analysis by HPLC it is imperative to ensure that foreign particles are not inadvertently loaded on to the column thus shortening its life. Filtration using syringe type filters is a simple and effective way of preventing this. Whatman filters are available in pore sizes of 0.1um, 0.2um, 0.45um and on occasion larger, in various diameters and materials of construction to ensure compatibility with different samples.
