What's New with Hamilton Microlab 600 Series?

An intuitive Touch Screen combined with Universal Valves and Bubble Free Prime Syringes combined with a Precision Syringe Pump allow precise Dispensing and Diluting applications with reliability and ease.

For Dual Syringe Models a simple Change of the Universal Valve configuration and some tubing allows the instrument to be easily configured as a Dual Dispenser, Dual Dispenser or Continuous Dispenser.

Applications

Simple Dilutions up to 1:50,000 in 1 step

Dilution with Internal Standard Addition

Double Dilutions or Multiple Dilutions eg Dilute Solution 'A' 1/10 to make 'B', Further Dilute 'B' 1/10, 1/20, 1/50 etc

Aliquot Dispense eg Fill syringe 5000µl, dispense 500µl x 10 times

Continuous Dispense

Example, sample and standard dilutions for analytical techniques, such as AA/ICP, GC, and HPLC, can be prepared directly into auto-sampler vials with final volumes as small as 1000µL

If the above dilution were prepared in a standard 50ml volumetric flask then the minimum saving in solvent would be 37.5ml per sample up to a maximum of 49ml per sample. This results in significant cost saving in preparing samples using expensive solvents.

There are also significantly reduced disposal costs as a minimum of solvent is used to prepare samples and standards.

Reduce analyst fatigue by eliminating the need to a volumetric pipette meniscus at eye level for long periods.

Deliver more than one solvent at the same time. Many Assay and Content Uniformity methods require multiple solvents in tubes to test samples. Deliver 2 at the same time to save valuable time and reduce operator fatigue.

Hamilton 600 series Diluters and Dispensers use Wizards and Methods can be stored on the SD Card.
Benefit:

The Wizards allow Dilution, Dispense and Custom Methods to be generated quickly. The methods can then be saved as a ‘Favourite’ to allow methods to be recalled quickly. This reduces technician-to-technician method variability as each step of the method is highlighted on screen and the progress can easily be determined at any time.

Custom methods involving multiple dilutions, Internal Standard addition, calibration standards preparation etc can be stored on a SD card and backed up to a computer.

The SD Card can be copied to allow methods to be quickly programmed on additional instruments by simply inserting a programmed SD card into the new instrument.

If anything this unit is even sturdier than its predecessors. In particular, the holder for the hand probe has been redesigned to last, as the older ones tended to break rather easily. Changing the syringes is even easier than before with knurled finger grips top and bottom. The tubing is protected from kinking by the use of spring protectors at the joints. But where the 600 really shines is in its ease of use. While you can programme methods at will and change programmes easily, we find the ‘Quick Start’ function to be its best feature.
