Once again, Lab Unlimited will be present at the International Association of Hydrogeologists (Irish Group) Conference. The discussion sessions are sure to provide insights about Irish groundwater resources, and what’s in store for the future.
The sessions will be focused on the varied impacts of climate change on groundwater in Ireland and further afield, with particular emphasis on the effects of the 2018 drought on Irish groundwater resources.
Donal Daly, President of the IAH (Irish Group) and Matthew Collins, from the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment, will be opening the conference and there will be three keynote speakers:
- Bridget Scanlon from the University of Texas, presenting "Managing Water Resources within the Context of Climate Extremes"
- Vincent Fitzsimons from SEPA, on "Climate Change - are we going to do something about it?"
- Mark Cuthbert from Cardiff University addressing "The importance of ground water response times for understanding climate change impacts on ground water systems"
The final day will end with an interactive workshop: "QGIS for Hydrogeologists", outlining the use and benefits of open-source QGIS for hydrogeologists, presented by Shane Carey, from Geological Survey Ireland.
Lab Unlimited will be present at the conference showcasing some of our environmental product portfolio: the WTW multiparameter 3630 meters, Parker Hannifin's THM Analyser, the Sensorex handheld UVT meters, YSI EXO water quality sondes and much more. See where you can find us!
The conference is expected to gather quite a diverse audience ranging from local and regional authorities, to engineering and environmental consultants, academics and representatives from policy/legislature state agencies.
