Drug Discovery
Canvax is known for its excellency in drug discovery and development. Previously unmet clinical needs in disorders such as cancer and central nervous system diseases can be covered by Canvax and is supported by an expert network in disease target validation. There is a screening of novel molecular libraries against both kinases and GPCRs, medicinal chemistry, in vitro and in vivo studies, ADME, and toxicology studies.
An example of a patented lead molecule is Bozinib, which has shown promising properties as an anticancer agent, specifically against cancer stem cells. There are three more programmes entering the Drug Discovery phase which use Canvax’s exclusive patented platform, FRIDA GPCR. This is a robust cell-based homogenous assay which has been validation for cancer and central nervous system GPCRs.
Nutraceuticals
Canvax have collaborated with IMIBIC in Spain to develop a patented formulation from a vegetal source that ameliorates oxidative stress in an animal model of multiple sclerosis significantly. Oxidative stress is common in several neurological diseases such as Alzheimer, Parkinson’s, schizophrenia, multiple sclerosis, and Huntington diseases.
Canvax scientists have also discovered a process to improve 14-fold the yield of the active molecule, when compared to the best industrial process used today, and such process is being patented. They now carry the human proof-of-concept for the value of the product as a functional ingredient.

Immunoenzymatic Biosensors and Molecular Nose
Canvax achieved stable high-level expression of odour GPCRs in heterologous cell lines in 2014 to develop a molecular nose with important applications in the pharmaceutical industry. A biosensor can be used for the detection of cancer and other diseases, within the fragrance industry to establish a molecular brand of perfume and can identify individuals by their smell.
According to immunoenzymatic biosensors, Canvax are developing multiplex assay methods compatible with a wide range of proteins. Multiplex tests are available for molecules against antibodies that are highly specific, but it has not been extended to the entire market of molecules that are discovered by monoplex immunoenzymatic methods. Therefore, Canvax are focused on the development of assay surfaces, methods to coat them with orientated antibodies, and more sensitive systems that are already in progress.
