Atlas Syringe Pumps
Atlas Syringe Pumps
The Atlas Syringe Pumps are versatile pumps that feature advanced dosing protocols that include pH control, temperature, dependent dosing, and auto sampling with flow rates of up to 200 mL/min. These syringe pumps are perfect for chemists looking for a single syringe pump to fulfil their chemistry needs.
The Atlas Syringe Pump and Atlas XL Syringe Pump are the perfect addition to your lab as they can be used as standalone syringe pumps or with your existing batch reactors. The Atlas Syringe Pump has a flow rate range of 10 – 20000 uL/min and a syringe size of 50 uL to 5 mL. The Atlas XL Syringe Pump has a flow rate of 0.1 – 200 mL/min and a syringe size of 0.5 uL to 50 mL. The syringe pumps can also be controlled by the Atlas HD automated reactor or the Atlas PC Software 1. These are lightweight syringe pumps that offer a small footprint and can be easily moved between lab benches.
pH Controlled Dosing
The Atlas Syringe Pumps can automatically dose an acid and/or base to keep the pH of your reaction within a defined range, using an Atlas pH probe and node. Chemical and biological transformations demonstrate a strong correlation between pH and the rate of reaction. This saves you the valuable time by removing any need to manually add small doses of acid or base over the course of the reaction.
The starting material, reactive intermediates, and products are sensitive to acids/bases, so the accuracy of pH control is vital for reactions to progress reliably. The precision and automation given by the Atlas Syringe Pumps allow chemists to have more control over their chemistry such as catalytic reactions and enzymatic reactions. It also enables the measure of reaction kinetics and conversion.
Temperature-Dependent Dosing
The Atlas Syringe Pumps offer temperature-dependent dosing which allows you to pause reagent addition until the reactors temperature is within a defined range. This increases the safety in the laboratory and saves time as it automatically mitigates against exotherms and endotherms. Having accurate temperature control and monitoring is important for predicting the scale-up of chemical processes and when it comes to biochemistry, it is critical to avoiding denaturing or damaging the product.
The reactor temperature, circulator temperature, and cumulative dosed volume of NaOH (aq) for the temperature-dependent dosing experiment are shown in this graph.
Pseudo-Gravimetric Dosing
Pseudo-Gravimetric Dosing is a powerful technique that is performed for the accurate introduction of a reagent to a reactor which the Altlas Syringe Pumps can perform. It utilizes a mass balance to ensure that the desired quantity of the reagent is dosed. Test experiments demonstrated that the process gave excellent results with an error in dosing of less than or equal to 0.1% of the required dosed amount.
Autosampling
The Atlas Syringe Pumps can allow up automated sampling of up to 6 samples with each syringe/valve by going directly through the syringe pump or the Atlas PC Software 1. This means that chemists can define a number of variables for complete control which includes the number of samples needed; the volume of each sample; the time taken to aspirate the sample; the delay before the first sample; and the delay between each sample.
Main Modes of Operation:
The Atlas Syringe Pumps offer 6 main modes of operation:
- Dual Dosing Mode which gives independent control of each syringe and associated valce, allowing the chemists to dose one syringe and auto sample another. The commands included are dose a particular volume; pump at a particular flow rate; dose one reagent to many jacketed reactors; sophisticated profiles; and auto sampling.
- pH Control Mode is when you can automatically dose an acid and/or base to keep the pH or reaction within defined range
- Temperature Control Dosing Mode allows Atlas Syringe Pumps to dose key chemicals because of a set temperature. This ensures safe dosing into exothermic reactions
- Continuous-Dosing Mode means that 2 syringe pumps can work together to produce 1 continuous flow, i.e. one refills while the other dispenses
- Atlas HD Base Control Mode is when the Atlas HD automated jacketed reactor(or Reactor Master automation unit) can control the Syringe Pumps as part of an automated temperature and stirrer speed profile
- PC Control Mode is used when the Atlas Syringe Pumps are controlled from Atlas PC Software 1. The syringe pumps can be used in complex, multi-step automated reactions in this mode
