The Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler System RS5 is compact and includes everything needed to make a discharge measurement. The ADCP RS5 is a member of the RiverSurveyor® suite of instrumentation as it comes loaded with many advanced data collection capabilities, high-precision data quality, and flexible deployment options that customers have become accustomed to using! There are no exceptions when it comes to the RS5 as it includes:

  • SmartPulse+ which is an algorithm that uses pulse-coherent and broadband acoustic profiling to adjust to any conditions
  • 360º compass and two-axis tilt sensor
  • Bottom tracking and velocity profiling within even shallower waters than before and in a wide variety of conditions
  • Batteries and Bluetooth radio is a part of the system, so no external electronics boxes are needed
  • Rely on integrated, modern, high speed, and low power wireless Bluetooth Low Energy radio with a 100m range and a five-minute data buffer to prevent loss and redundant work
  • Vertical acoustic beam for optimal channel definition and the most accurate channel cross-sectional area

Features of the RS5 ADCP System

RSQ:

Experience discharge data like never before with the modern and user-friendly software interface, RSQ. A single measurement file includes all the data and metadata needed for each measurement and it can be exported in formats for Excel, Matlab, and Google Earth. The ability to do more with less time due to the improved site templates. You can experiment, learn, and teach within the office or conference room as if you were in the field with the ‘demo’ mode which plays back recorded files to simulate live data collection. It is possible to:

  • Save data to a PC, external drive, or network
  • Customise file naming
  • Run and apply Extrap directly
  • Sub-section transects
  • Process .riv or .rivr files from RSL
  • Three-beam switching when there is a vertical bank interface

RTK GPS:

The new proprietary RTK solution uses custom-designed dual-frequency and multi-constellation GNSS antennas. It has the option for a Rover and Base configuration, or a Rover antenna with NTRIP corrections. The additional features of this include:

  • Supporting constellations and frequencies such as GPS(L1ca/L2c), GLONASS(L1/L2), GALILEO (E1bc, E5b) and BEIDOU (B1i, B2i)
  • Boat track accuracy of up to 2cm
  • NTRIP or network RTK corrections directly through the RSQ software
  • Has lithium-ion batteries that are rechargeable and can be used with the ADCP RS5
  • Radio range of 250m, Rover-to-Base, line-of-sight

DGNSS (Option):

The integrated DGNSS antenna is for backup or an alternative to bottom tracking in a moving bed or difficult conditions. You can geolocate each sample during measurement and it utilises multiple constellations for increased precision.
